BlueSky Barn is a luxury dwelling converted from a disused grain store whilst maintaining the exterior appearance of the original grain store and the utilisation of surprisingly simple palette of materials. The owner purchased the disused steel-clad grain store with planning permission but were restricted to creating a dwelling with the same footprint. The stipulation was to design and ensure that the completed building was in total harmony with the surroundings whilst paying homage to the industrial feel of the original agricultural building. The works included carefully stripping back the existing barn frame, extensive refurbishment and then re-cladding with a combination of composite cladding, refurbished cladding, and a new larch cladding. The existing ground floor slab was carefully removed and replaced.
